Bill Brunner, USAC Level 2
Over 40 years ago, at the age of 13, I entered my first bike race in Brookdale Park New Jersey, I was hooked. I was fortunate to race at the top level of the sport in the United States and spent several seasons in Europe at the top Amateur level competing in many of the major stage races on the continent. I continue to serve the cycling community as a past president and board member of the US Bicycling Hall of Fame. I earned my first USCF (United States Cycling Federation) coaching certification in 1977 and currently hold a USA Cycling Level 2 Coaching Certificate. I spent 15 years coaching youth Ice Hockey working with all levels of players and hold a USA Hockey Level 4 Certificate (highest level). In addition, I am Safe Sport Certified through the US Olympic Committee and am Training Peaks Certified. I coach the Colavita U19 Team passing on knowledge of training and racing to developing junior athletes. I’ve watched and helped juniors move from beginners to the highest ranks in cycling. Additionally, I am the Head Coach of Bucknell University Cycling Team.
I’ve coached athletes from beginning riders who wanted to finish their first century to seasoned athletes wanting to go from an average result to a podium finish. In recent years, I served as Director Sportif for four Tour d’ Abitibi Teams with tour leadership experience dating back to the 80’s. This past season riding for Colavita Racing Team, I perfected my comeback by adopting my training philosophy and earned the season long 55+ Maxxis Garden State Cup. I work with fitness to elite athletes looking to improve in endurance in running or cycling and help them set and reach their individual goals.
